It is the product of a collaboration of some 150 people from around the world addressing all of the eight millennium development goals: 1) eradicating extreme poverty and hunger; achieving universal primary education; promoting gender equality and empowerment of women; reducing child mortality; improving maternal health; combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases; ensuring environmental sustainability; and developing a global partnership for development.

The Rev. Liberato Bautista (Assistant General Secretary for United Nations and International Affairs of the General Board of Church and Society of The United Methodist Church and former President of CoNGO) is the lead writer and editor of the book.
